My name is Oxana Doroftei, and i was born in Moldova on the 27th December 1984 under
the star sign of Capricorn. I have the same handicap as MPS due to an error in my diagnosis when i was 1
year old. They prescribed the incorrect medicine and it caused my deaf.
But this is not a problem. Like MPS i can talk and have no troubles communicating with my friends,
i can listen to them by lip-reading.
Its true that i am Moldovan and i have slight problems with Italian, but with MPS i am catching up very
quickly. I have been in italy since the summer of 2006 with my mother Alina who is now working in Vicenza for
the last 3 years as a carer for the elderly.
A few months after my arrival i have met Gianluca (MPS) and now i live with him.

Thanks to my studies in sign language italian (LIS) i have a job as a teacher for deaf people.
There is no sea in Moldova. I have been in the sea once in Odessa, Ukraine, but i have never been under the water.
I have taken part in other sports like: volleyball, ping pong and dance. I have also taken part in beauty
contests and once i actually won. But my strong point is my creativeness, i love design, fashion painting and
making floral ornaments.
Gianluca has requested that i collaborate with him on his website. I have accepted his request,
because to him collaboration means i get to follow him on many underwater adventures hunting fish.
He has been a good teacher. I have started from scratch, he has taught me everything, from updating his website
to how he gets ready for a breathhold dive. The main objective is to get in the sea.
I did not think that the breathhold experience was going to be so intense, especially when i began to wear a
suit and mask and entered the water for the first time... i fell in love with the sea.
I have followed Gianluca in all his travels around italy. The first time i went to the island of Giglio,
but after this i have seen a bit of everything, from the ligurian seabed to the Cote D'azure MPS never stops
and continually travels... but nowadays i follow.
I have then decided to document our travels, a diary of our experiences at sea, how we spearfish in
tandem and how the sea has become our second home.
We have released a film, which i hope explains what spearfishing is all about, not an invasive unsustainable
practise but a means to become part of the marine world, respecting and enjoying it. Today more than ever for
MPS as he knows that each time he surfaces, Oxana will be there to greet him in the boat.
It will be a spearfishing documentary, but also about life at sea and also about preparing and cooking fish.
Kindest Regards
Oxana
